Fort Washington Park borders the Hudson River and Riverside Park between W.155 Street and W.179 Street. The Fort Washington Park tennis courts are located just south of the George Washington Bridge and the Little Red Lighthouse. Ten NYC Public Parks hard courts can be reached by traveling along the Manhattan waterfront on the NYC Greenway route north from W.181st Street downhill or south from Riverside Park and Fort Washington Park along the scenic Hudson River.

Traveling by Bicycle

Traveling by bicycle along the Manhattan waterfront on the popular NYC Greenway route in Riverside Park and Fort Washington Park may be the most popular way to get to the Fort Washington Park tennis courts.

Traveling by Subway

Take the"A"train:
Exit the “A” train at the W. 181st Street station. When exiting the station walk west downhill to the end of W. 181st. Street. Look to the north to find and cross over the pedestrian foot bridge than proceed south along the sidewalk until you can turn right and travel down to the Hudson River bank. When arriving at sea level down under the George Washington Bridge roadway and to the left of the landmark Little Red Lighthouse look south to see the tennis courts. I teach tennis lessons on court #1 which is close to the restrooms at the south end of the row of courts.(From the W.181st Street subway station it takes about 12 to 18 minutes to walk downhill to the tennis courts. Many visitors prefer to ride bikes on this route rather than walking) A shorter route would be to exit the "A" train at the W.168th Street station and travel west down W.165th Street to Riverside Drive. Travel north on Riverside Drive following the sidewalk until you can turn west on the sidewalk following it to Fort Washington Park and down to the Hudson River.

Traveling by Automobile

Try to find alternate side of the street parking as far west as possible in the W. 181st Street neighborhood or along Riverside Drive north of W.165th Street. From the west end of W. 181st Street cross a pedestrian bridge over the highway then proceed south on the sidewalk until you can turn right and travel west down to the Hudson River bank. From Riverside Drive and W.165th Street follow the sidewalk north until you can turn west on the sidewalk following it to Fort Washington Park and the Hudson River. Visitors can combine driving and bicycling to the tennis courts as well. Park for free in the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation public parking lot located off of the W. 158 Street exit of the Henry Hudson Parkway (9A). Park and then bike north along the Manhattan waterfront on the "NYC Greenway" route in the direction of the George Washington Bridge.(That is if you can fit a bicycle into your car) I teach tennis lessons on court #1 which is close to the restrooms at the south end of the courts.
